Northend United 0 Glendowan 4  Saturday 7th September

In a sweltering encounter, Glendowan FC emerged victorious with a 4-0 win over Northend. The game was marked by its physical intensity, which saw Glendowan leverage their strength to overwhelm their opponents despite giving away several free kicks and receiving a yellow card.
Northend Utd began the match strongly, holding firm for the first 20 minutes and defending resolutely. However, their resilience was eventually broken when Glendowan scored from a well-executed corner. The goal served as a catalyst for Glendowan, who continued to exploit gaps in the Northend defence.

Northend’s captain, Conor McGarry was a thorn in Glendowan’s side and as such was on the end of a number of crunching tackles. The warm conditions took their toll on both teams, leading to visible fatigue as the match progressed. Despite Northend’s efforts, including a series of free kicks that were too distant to pose a significant threat, they struggled to break down Glendowan's defence. A pivotal moment came when a clear handball by a Glendowan defender in the penalty area went unnoticed by the referee, denying Northend a penalty.

Overall, Glendowan FC's physicality and ability to capitalise on key moments ensured their decisive win, while Northend, despite their determined performance, were unable to convert their opportunities or overcome the challenges posed by their opponents. Full time 0-4

Windmill Stars 3 Northend United 0   Saturday 31st August 2024

The young blues kicked off their first season in the Lisburn league playing against a very strong windmill.  Windmill had a lot of the ball in the first 15 minutes of the game but never really create many opportunities this was due to the defence of Ollie O’Kane and Blaise O'Neill who remained firm and limited Windmill to shots from distance.  The Fantastic energy on Conor McGarry who covered every inch of the pitch on Saturday had a great opportunity to put Northend 1 up but hit the cross bar with a free kick. Deep into injury time Windmill took the lead when United pushed players forward for a corner and on the counter attack slotted the ball past the onrushing Eoin McArdle in goal.

United made several changes for the next 15 minutes with the introductions of William Porter upfront, Daniel Cassidy in goals and Oisin Goodall in the defence in hope of adding getting back into the game.  Daniel Cassidy in goals was definitely the busier of the keepers and made several great saves to keep the score at 1-0, however all his best efforts was undone when United were caught playing out from the back and conceded a soft 2nd goal, with in minutes a similar issue soon became 3-0.  United settled down and began to try to play their game and create a change when Holba on the right found the run of Porter who could only warm the keepers hand.

The final 15 mins seen United really go for it, they created several opportunities and despite rattling the crossbar again they just couldn’t get the ball over the line.  Despite a battling performance they could find a way to break down a strong Windmill side. Full time 3-0
